The Minister of Agriculture held an online meeting with the Ambassador of the United States

The Minister of Environmental and Agriculture of Georgia held an online meeting with the Ambassador of the United States of America, Kelly Degnan.


At the meeting, the Ambassador set focus on the preventive measures taken by Georgian Government against the spread of the novel Covid-19 and drew her attention to the tangible, positive results achieved in this direction.


The issues related to the uninterrupted supply of food items, as well as importance of control measures taken by Georgian side to ensure food supplies in the country have been brought forward by the Ambassador, who also stated, that shortage of food or other essentials were not created as a result of coordinated measures taken by Georgian government and effective performance management implemented by the Ministry.


The progress being made in the fight against the spread of the novel virus, as well as the importance of high sense of social responsibility of Georgian people to act for the benefit of society and maintain the progress as mentioned above was underlined by the Ambassador at the meeting.


Davitashvili spoke about the current situation in Georgia and new challenges faced by the country due to the spread of Covid 19.


The sides highlighted issues related to the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, including support provided for small and medium entrepreneurs in the country.


The Minister expressed his gratitude to the US government, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for their long term support and agricultural development programs implemented in Georgia.


The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Khatia Tsilosani attended the online meeting.
