The Ambassador of Georgia has not been recalled from Ukraine, but has just been summoned for consultations, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in a special statement.
“This is not an everyday thing, but it is a common practice in the diplomatic field. We do not see any threat in this decision for the relations between our friendly states. We have many crossing points and common challenges.
At the same time, overcoming the epidemic and stabilizing the economy is a common task for everyone. This challenge by the Ukrainian government requires new approaches and non-standard solutions. Mikheil Saakashvili is a citizen of Ukraine, he has a great experience and significant achievements in the implementation of reforms, which is widely recognized in the world.
We call on our Georgian friends and partners to take into account the presented arguments and not to make bilateral relations dependent on the ongoing reforms in Ukraine. Development of the Ukrainian-Georgian partnership is our people’s will and we will do our best to develop it in all respects”, - reads the statement.
