Calling the March 8 agreement into question is categorically unacceptable to me; I can"t even imagine this, I think it is simply impossible, - Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia told reporters.

“The electoral system under which the 2020 parliamentary elections must be held, which was agreed between the Government and the opposition, was critically important for the Georgian Dream.

Of course, I would like to emphasize that the March 8 agreement was an extremely important achievement in the process of further democratization of the country. In general, this agreement is an achievement of our democracy, in which our strategic partners, ambassadors of specific countries, were directly involved as facilitators.

We should remember that the electoral system in general, which was agreed on March 8, is so important systemic change in terms of democratization of Georgia that it is absolutely unacceptable to me to call this achievement into question in any sense.

I have always said and will repeat - the agreement on the electoral system is a fundamental issue. The proportional system and the system that is close to the proportional system, under which we are to hold 2020 elections, is critical important personally for me and for our team”, - concluded Giorgi Gakharia.
