During today’s videoconference under Open Government Week, Head of the Government Administration of Georgia Natia Mezvrishvili discussed the importance of open and transparent governance, challenges, and the Georgian Government"s approaches.

The digital engagement singled out ensuring access to information for citizens through adopting various means of communication as one of the Government"s priority directions.

Natia Mezvrishvili discussed in detail the renewed process of open government and reaffirmed Georgia"s strong commitment to the principles of open governance. The meeting pointed out that, despite certain delays due to the crisis, the Government is actively cooperating with civil society on the development of the new Open Government-Georgia Action Plan and stands ready to hold a new phase of consultations in this direction.

According to Natia Mezvrishvili, transparency, accountability, and open government are the fundamental principles of our crisis management strategy, and the Government is actively cooperating with development partners and civil society actors to match action with public demand and needs.

The digital forum under Open Gov Week, themed after the pandemic as Open Response, Open Recovery, brought together the Open Government Partnership member states, with Georgia joining the initiative.

The Open Government Partnership is an international initiative uniting 78 countries, and it seeks to ensure the openness and accountability of governments, and the participation of civil society and citizens in governance.
