The Government will make sure that the construction projects are completed and the people do not stay on the streets as it was after the 2008 crisis - Giorgi Gakharia

The Government will make sure that the construction projects are completed and the people do not stay on the streets as it was after the 2008 crisis - Giorgi Gakharia. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia during the presentation of the anti-crisis plan to support the construction sector.

According to Giorgi Gakharia, the fourth anti-crisis plan refers to the development and construction companies.

“In recent months, during the crisis, we have provided many social groups with assistance, and it has been frequently remarked that our IDPs were left without attention. Now we are trying to compensate for this failure.

The Government will spend 150 million GEL by the end of the year to build apartments for three times more IDPs, an additional 1800 families, which means that our IDPs, 1800 families, about 6 thousand people will receive apartments three years ahead of schedule”, - said the Head of the Government.

He also added that the Georgian government will subsidize 4% of the mortgage loan contracts, signed by the end of the year, for 5 year.

“About 25 000 mortgage loans were concluded for the construction projects that have not been over yet. We will pay 4% of the mortgage loans taken from June 1 until the end of 2020. The Government will cover the 4% for 5 years. The subsidy will apply to the credits that do not exceed 200 000 GEL. The Government will provide projects of 150 mln GEL value for IDPs, i.e., the IDPS will receive apartments three years earlier. No allowances will take effect for the construction permits issued before 2013”, - concluded Giorgi Gakharia.
