Why the date of resumption of tourist travel with Georgia was postponed? The Ambassador of Israel to Georgia talks about the reasons of such decision.
“There are two reasons for this - the first is that this time the coronavirus outbreak is specifically linked to only a few locations, especially some schools in the country. The government immediately called on schoolchildren and their families to isolate themselves. The second reason is that we are currently conducting an average of 15 000 PCR tests daily, which is a very high rate. Naturally, the more we test, the more cases we detect.
Therefore, we must be careful and relatively slow down our negotiations with Georgia on the resumption of flights, however, we still want Georgia to be one of the first countries with which we will restore tourist links and direct flights. However, this will not happen in the first days of June, but we hope that the flights will be resumed in early July. We need to keep an eye on the developments and act accordingly”, - explained Ran Gidor.
