Our task is to be able to conduct 10 000 PCR tests in a day by the end of the year. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia during the meeting held with the ambassadors accredited in Georgia in Kakheti.
According to Giorgi Gakharia, at the beginning of the epidemic 100-150 PCR tests were conducted per day in the Lugar lab, but now 4 500 tests can be conducted in a day.
“Today we have a slight increase in the cases of COVID-19, but we were ready for it. The Lugar lab, for which we have to thank the U.S. once again, was conducting 100-150 PCR tests a day in the first days of the epidemic. Today 4 500 tests can be conducted in Georgia daily. Our task is to be able to conduct 10 000 PCR tests in a day by the end of the year. This is a necessary condition that allows us to open up the economy more boldly.
I would like to day that we are very grateful to our international partners and donor organizations, with the help of which we will make serious investments in the near future to strengthen the hospital system.
We see this crisis as a long-term problem and the main task of Georgia is to adapt and learn how to manage the epidemic. This infection may lose its strength in a year or two, or a new one may emerge. In our global world, viruses represent one of the most serious challenges to normal social life, health, etc”, - concluded the Head of the Government.
