The Mayor of Batumi Lasha Komakhidze told the reporters that he has officially resigned. At the same time, in response to the journalists’ question, he didn’t confirm that he had refused to be included the electoral list.

“I don’t confirm the refusal. The consultations haven’t ended yet. I have a worthy offer from the state”, - said the former Mayor.

He added that Vice-Mayor Jaba Tugushi has also resigned.

Lasha Komakhidze will appoint Archil Chikovani, the head of the Adjara government administration, as the vice-mayor of Batumi today. Chikovani will perform the duties of the Mayor. 

Komakhidze was elected as Mayor of Batumi in 2017.
