According to a survey by the National Democratic Institute (NDI), a large part of the population believes that at least some of the information related to the coronavirus is a lie. At the same time, 60% of the population is sure that they can distinguish lies from the truth.
“Georgians say they get their news on COVID-19 primarily from television (84%), social media (41%), and friends, family and colleagues (26%). When asked how they determine whether information on Facebook related to COVID-19 is true or false, 61% of those who receive news about COVID-19 from social media, point to the source or media channel, whereas a plurality, 37%, relies on their instincts. The Lugar Lab, a prominent target of disinformation, received an overwhelmingly positive assessment, with 66% saying it has prevented the spread of COVID-19 in Georgia. Looking ahead, 80% of citizens remain concerned that they or their family members will get infected with the virus”, - reads the report.
53% of interviewed believes that religious faith protected the believers from being infected with COVID-19, the 38% disagrees.
46% of the population would not have been vaccinated or vaccinated their children if a coronavirus vaccine was available.
38% of respondents said they would, while 15% did not know their decision.
