Friendly talks on Davit Gareji Monastery should end. Such a statement made the President of Georgia in the talk show “Ghamis Kurieri” [“Night Courier”].

“I was involved in the issue of Davit Gareja when I was the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Then MFA of Azerbaijan and I demanded the commissions to be set up. The issue concerned Davit Gareji and the Red Bridge, so we decided to hand over this case to the Presidents.

The new material is the discovery of detailed maps compiled by these republics in 1938 when establishing their borders. An agreement was reached with Baku that we will be guided by this when delimiting these borders, but a detailed map showing the sections that matter most to us has disappeared. I will not tell you today which part of the Davit Gareji Monastery is on which side”, - said Salome Zourabichvili.
