The US Embassy in Georgia has warned its citizens about the ongoing protest near the Central Election Commission building.
“A demonstration is taking place five minutes south of the U.S. Embassy along Aghmashenebeli Avenue. Police are using riot control measures against a large number of protestors. Sporadic, short notice or unannounced rallies or protests may continue to occur throughout the country in response to the Georgian parliamentary elections.
U.S. Government personnel have been advised to avoid this area and any areas with a large police presence, which is an indicator of large gatherings with the potential for violence, and to exercise caution if in the vicinity of any demonstrations. Those who are in hotels, restaurants, or other businesses near protest activity should remain in the building until crowds dissipate”, - reads the statement.
