Girchi, European Georgia, Lelo and Strategy Aghmashenebeli issue a joint statement

Girchi, European Georgia, Lelo and Strategy Aghmashenebeli issued a joint statement saying that they do not intend to “recognize the results of the rigged elections”.

“The regime of Ivanishvili has already shown us that it intends to maintain power by using illegal force. The dispersal of peaceful protesters near the CEC with water cannons and the illegal detention of civil activists represent a dangerous reaction of this illegitimate regime to peaceful protests.

We reiterate our firm position that we are not going to recognize the results of the rigged elections, run in the second round and enter the illegitimate Parliament.

We continue our peaceful protest. Our demands remain unchanged - new elections, dismissal of CEC administration and release of political prisoners. These are the issues that should be discussed with the Ivanishvili regime through the mediation of international friends.

We demand from the Ministry of Internal Affairs not to allow close contact of police forces with the protesters. We call on peaceful demonstrators, including supporters of any political group who are justifiably outraged by the rigged elections and violence, not to engage in a physical confrontation with the police.

We are ready for long and peaceful protests. The power of our protest lies in peaceful actions. After the general agreement of the opposition, we decided to hold the next protest rally on November 14 in Tbilisi, while on November 21, a peaceful, live chain will be made during the second fictitious rounds of rigged elections”, - reads the statement.
