Today’s videoconference between the Prime Minister and State Representatives discussed the epidemiological situation and challenges in the regions.
Giorgi Gakharia received detailed information about the state of affairs and needs in each region and gave the State Representatives individual instructions.
The meeting discussed the issue of engaging additional clinics in COVID management, if need be, judging by the infection growth rate, also the issue of mobilizing COVID hotels in municipalities where it may become necessary.
The Prime Minister emphasized that breaking the chain of infection requires strict control over self-isolating infected persons and the effective engagement of family physicians in monitoring the health of citizens recovering at home.
As for COVID hotels, in line with Giorgi Gakharia’s instructions, the therapeutic component-that is, medical supervision over milder cases at COVID hotels-has been boosted.
According to the State Representatives, only severe cases are hospitalized in the regions, and throughout the country, and necessary continuous measures are taken to prevent inpatient clinics from running out of beds.
To remain updated on the epidemiological situation in the regions and to ensure rapid problem-resolution in the process of COVID management, the Prime Minister of Georgia holds regular meetings with State Representatives.
