The meeting between US Assistant Secretary of State Philip Reeker and leaders of opposition parties is a confirmation that the US understands how deep the political crisis in Georgia is. Such a statement made today the Chairman of the United National Movement.
“Let me tell you from my 45 years of experience that people who say that the visit of the outgoing administration, the US Secretary of State means nothing, are usually spies of Russian influence. In fact, it means a lot. The US policy towards Georgia is bipartisan. The fact that Ambassador Reeker remained in Georgia and did not accompany the Secretary of State to Israel is an indication that our strategic ally, as well as the European Union, understands perfectly well how deep the political crisis in Georgia is and how we need the help of strategic allies to find a solution. They listened carefully to what we said.
The message was that it is urgent to find a compromise in Georgia given the difficult economic and social situation in the region, as well as the difficult situation relating to COVID-19 around the world. Thousands of Georgian citizens are behind us, demanding justice”, - said Grigol Vashadze.
