A Christmas village will not be arranged in Tbilisi this year, with the funds going instead to help poor families for the New Year’s and Christmas holidays. Such a statement made today the Mayor of the capital.
“The arrangement of the New Year village cost about GEL 700 000 – 800 000. Taking the current epidemiological and economic situation into account we have decided to use the money for poor families.
Tbilisi City Hall has already made a special platform to accumulate funds to support poor families for New Year and Christmas. 500,000 GEL has already been accumulated on the platform and we will begin to distribute food in the coming days”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
He added that GEL 330 million annually is allocated from the budget for social and health care.
