Civil society can not understand rejection of Georgian Civil Aviation Agency (GCAA) on the information that Georgia is in the ICAO"s list of those countries, who have security problems.
Some NGOs explains that the fact that Georgia is among the countries with insecure Aviation, is the fault of current leadership"s incompetence .
The leadership of Georgian Civil Aviation Agency has the information since 2013, however Georgian aviation remains between 13 lagging countries. After broadcasting the story GCAA decided to sue Rustavi2.
" The story broadcasted by Rustavi2 was disinformation aimed to discredit Georgian aviation authorities. ICAO does not produce the so-called black list, therefore Georgia couldn"t be placed in such list. Moreover, there is no mechanism to exclude Georgia from the ICAO. GCAA had serious problems and flaws in 2004-2010 because of wrong policy. According of the Audit Service of ICAO the transport reform is being implemented successfully . "- is stated in an announcement published by GCAA.
Giorgi Karbelashvili confirms information on existence of the black lists. The parliamentary majority underlines that it is necessary to improve the situation.
