Parliament to vote on the draft resolution on foreign policy

The Parliament of Georgia will vote on the draft resolution on foreign policy. As the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration said, the accelerated implementation of the Association Agreement by 2024 and the fulfillment of key commitments will be the first basis for Georgia to have ambitions to apply for EU membership in 2024.

“We have made minor changes to the draft resolution, which will be submitted to the Foreign Affairs Committee. We will continue to work within the Foreign Affairs Committee to refine Georgia’s foreign policy priorities. The first thing that ensures the application is fulfilling the Association Agreement. We are currently negotiating with the EU to set the agenda for the Association Agreement for 2021-2027. Naturally, the accelerated implementation of the Association Agreement by 2024, the fulfillment of key commitments will be the first basis for Georgia to have ambitions to apply for EU membership in 2024. Of course, work will also be needed to gain political support at this time and in other priority areas to strengthen relations with the EU. In my opinion, achieving this is realistic, I have reason to be optimistic, because since 2014, after we signed the Association Agreement, Georgia has made very good progress in implementing this agreement”, - said Maka Bochorishvili.
