The Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee of the Parliament kicks off a discussion of the draft law on amnesty. Georgian legislature registered the draft law on amnesty on December 16.
According to the document, the amnesty will apply to less serious crimes. Depending on the crime content and gravity, the perpetrator would be released from criminal liability and punishment only if he has no criminal record if the victim agrees to the amnesty, or the convict compensates for the damage.
The parliamentary Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee Chair, Mikheil Sarjveladze, initiated the bill.
