As part of the reform of state-owned enterprises, the Prime Minister of Georgia-together with Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Maya Tskitishvili, Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani, and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava-held a working meeting with representatives of Georgian Railway.
The meeting discussed what reforms may be implemented for further corporatizing the railroad. The conversation revolved around the company’s challenges and achievements, also summarizing the results of previous years. It was emphasized that Georgian Railway has a variety of resources to enhance the effectiveness of its work.
To that end, relevant structures, on the Prime Minister’s instructions, will develop an agenda for railroad corporatization and reforming.
This reform will help align state enterprise management to the highest standards of corporate management.
Under the plan for expedited reform and privatization of state-owned enterprises, similar intensive meetings will continue. For reforming the management of state-owned enterprises, a special working group has been established under the leadership of Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani.
