If we take care of the progress that we have, we will not have the third wave – Amiran Gamkrelidze

If we take care of the progress that we have, we will not have the third wave. Such a statement made the Head of the National Center for Diseases Control.

“We went through the peak of the second wave in November-December - if we follow all the rules and take care of the progress that we have, if we are careful, we will not have the third wave.

If the rate of wearing the face mask rises to 95%, the country will no longer go through the nightmare that it went through in November-December.

Transport will be restored from Monday. Mobility will seriously increase. It is very important that buses, micro buses are not overcrowded. If we follow the rules, there will be cases, but it will be fewer”, - said Amiran Gamkrelidze.

He added that observing a face mask rule could avoid a 3rd wave of coronavirus. COVID-19 positivity rate is 5 times less than it was in November-December, and citizens should maintain this progress.

“People should not be under the illusion that pandemic is over, but be careful and follow the recommendations. We will have to wear facemasks for another year or a bit longer. Personal care, handwashing, social distance, and so on will stay in effect until 70% of the population gets the vaccine or very effective medicine is approved”, - concluded the Head of the NCDC.
