Georgian Dream has nominated Defense Minister Irakli Gharibashvili as its candidate for Prime Minister. The information became known after the sitting of the Political Council and the majority.
According to Irakli Kobakhidze, the Chairman of the Georgian Dream, the political council made the decision unanimously.
Garibashvili, 39, who worked in Bidzina Ivanishvili’s companies for eight years before going into politics in late 2011, served as the Interior Minister for a year before becoming the PM in November, 2013.
In December 2015 Irakli Garibashvili resigned and left the party.
