“The decision of the [Bidzina] Ivanishvili regime to attack the independent and critical media, to invade the TV with a completely illegal, criminal decision, to demand the disclosure of the whistleblower, is a dangerous sign of authoritarianism, which will not be tolerated by the Georgian society and democratic opposition parties.
TV Pirveli, Nodar Meladze and their source exposed a serious crime. A crime that exposes the nature of the Ivanishvili regime, the violence behind which high-ranking officials stand. In a democratic society, an investigation would have been launched into these crimes.
This illegal decision of [Bidzina] Ivanishvili’s puppet court grossly violates both the Law of Georgia on Freedom of Expression and the Criminal Procedure Code”, - reads the join statement.
