Being a politician is not an immunity. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili during a briefing after the 6th session of the Georgia-EU Association Council in Brussels.
“As for the question regarding the release of as you said prisoners, politicians - being a politician is not an immunity, first of all. If a politician commits a crime or conducts some illegal activities - of course, he or she must be accountable and responsible for it.
Therefore, it is not up to me to decide when or how to release these prisoners. It is about the rule of law, it is about the judiciary system, it is about the court decision to put someone in jail or release someone from the prison“, - said the Head of the Government.
