The Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with the South Caucasus Marina Kaljurand.
The conversation focused on the successful Georgia-EU cooperation across a variety of areas and the country’s European integration. Marina Kaljurand congratulated the Prime Minister on the positive outcomes of the recent Georgia-EU Association Council"s meeting and reaffirmed firm support for Georgia’s European integration.
The meeting also discussed the ongoing EU-mediated political dialogue. The parties emphasized that, importantly, both sides must make an effort toward holding the process in a constructive environment and reaching a consensus. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of political parties putting the interests of Georgia citizens above their own and being guided by the country’s long-term interests in their actions.
The conversation also involved the region’s geopolitical landscape and security challenges in Georgia’s occupied territories, with emphasis on the Georgian Government’s peace policy toward conflict-regulation and the European Parliament’s unwavering support for the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
