It was suggested by the Georgian Dream that early parliamentary elections would be called in 2022 if the Georgian Dream won less than 40% in the local self-government elections. Such a statement made today Aleko Elisashvili, the leader of the Citizens’ Party.
“We talked about the issues of the Prosecutor’s office, including the election of the chief prosecutor, the staffing of the Prosecutor’s office, the reform of the judiciary.
When a historical issue is on the table, such as the real reform of the court and the Prosecutor’s office and you throw it off on the grounds that you want early elections, it is shocking and inexplicable.
We talked about the distribution of positions of the chairmen of the parliamentary committees, as well as the electoral reform. There was the issue of the release of political prisoners, but a desire was expressed to discuss that issue beyond these negotiations.
It was suggested by the Georgian Dream that early parliamentary elections would be called in 2022 if they won less than 40% in the local self-government elections. All this turned out to be unacceptable for the opposition”, - added Aleko Elisashvili.
