106,532 boxes of non-excised cigarettes were seized in February - March

As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out in different regions of Georgia, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, during the months of February-March of 2021, exposed 77 facts of storage and transportation of large amounts of excisable goods subject to marking, without excise marks. 79 persons have been exposed for committing the crime, 44 of whom have been detained.

As a result of investigative activities, total of 106 532 boxes of different brands of non-excised tobacco, intended for sale, were seized from the persons exposed in crime. Market value of the seized tobacco exceeds GEL 446 000.

Investigation is underway under the first, second and third parts of Article 200 of Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 6 to 8 years.
