Officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested 7 people on charges of drug crimes.

Citizens of both Georgia and foreign countries have been arrested on charges of illegal purchase, storage, and promotion of sale of particularly large amounts of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, as well as illegal cultivation of plants containing narcotic drugs.

As a result of the personal search and search activities held in temporary residential apartments of the accused persons, particularly large amount of various narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances prepared for sale, including: “Mephedrone”, “Methadone”, up to 4 kilograms of “marijuana”, 21 roots of “Cannabis” and 323 pills of “Pregabalin”. Drugs were also seized from places indicated by the detainees.

As a result of the investigative actions, law enforcement officers also seized materials necessary for packaging narcotic drugs and firearms.

The investigation is underway under Articles 260, 260-4, 19-260, 261, 265-1, 273 and 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, envisioning up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
