All parties, individual MPs, should make the next step and take seats in Parliament - Kelly Degnan

We encourage all parties and all members of the Parliament to come into the legislature and continue the hard work to finish implementing this agreement. Such a statement made today the US Ambassador to Georgia.

“MPs signed an important document. Now, all parties, individual MPs, should make the next step and take seats in the parliament.

I know that work is underway on electoral reform. The October local elections should take place under the full confidence of voters.

We are very encouraged to see the parties negotiating over the weekend. I understand they’re going to continue those negotiations on electoral reform. This is an essential element of the April 19 agreement, and in ensuring that the October local elections will run smoothly and will have the full confidence of voters.

The essential element of the agreement was judicial process. This process needs to have full confidence of the public, and other political parties. That’s why we encourage all parties and all members of parliament to come into Parliament. This has been our consistent message since the parliamentary elections.

We are convinced that that is a right place to do this hard work to improve the judicial system, the electoral system, and to ensure that Georgians can have confidence in the outcomes of their elections and in the decisions of their courts”, - said Kelly Degnan.
