The artists, who have been selling their works for 25 years on the stairs of the Academy of Sciences, are compelled to leave the territory.

The City Hall officials requested the artists to leave the territory today.

According to the artists they were asked to leave by the head of the maintenance department of the Academy of Science, Ilia Kvezereli and the head of administartive department , Felix Kalandarishvili..

Ilia Kvezereli said that if necessary the police force will be used to force the artists to leave the territory.

The reason cited is the renovation of the surrounding territory. However, artists doubt that their expulsion was linked to the opening of a new café.
