Giorgi Gakharia’s team appealed to the Prosecutor’s Office and the State Security Service with the demand of investigation into the statements of the chairperson of the Georgian Dream.

“The information spread by Irakli Kobakhidze in the mass media contains signs of a severe possible crime, where he exposes the former prime minister, incumbent police officers, and soldiers.

As it is clear from Irakli Kobakhidze’s interview, he had this information for the last 4 months, to which he did not respond then. He had a legal obligation to do so because failure to report a crime by someone who truly knows that a serious crime is being committed is a punishable act under Article 376 of the Criminal Code.

Please initiate an investigation into information containing possible crimes broadcasted by the media. The accusations made by Irakli Kobakhidze must be answered within a reasonable time”, - reads the statement.
