It is necessary to strengthen trust in justice, increase transparency and accountability. Such a statement made today the EU Ambassador to Georgia, while talking about the Judiciary Support Project.

“This project is a demonstration of the investment that the EU has been doing over the years when it comes to building stronger and more accountable institutions here in Georgia.

And I am very satisfied with many of the results that have been achieved over the years. At the same time, I will stress in the room the need to further build on these achievements and make sure that further transparency and trust are being built in the judiciary and wider rule of law area and for that, the 19 April Agreement clearly serves as the road map and work plan which we are hoping, expecting now all sides in Parliament and other stakeholders to take hard in advance further to make sure that further accountability, further transparency, and further trust is being brought into the rule of law sector, which is what this country needs and citizens deserve”, - said Carl Hartzell.

The EU4Justice “Judiciary Support Project” has held its final event today. Over the past year, the Project has focused its efforts on the implementation of the 3rd and 4th waves of judicial reforms. The aim was to increase transparency of the High Council of Justice and of the Office of the Independent Inspector, to refine the procedures and to improve the standard of reasoning. In the framework of the final event, three sessions encompassed the issues of multicentric and organizational structure of the judicial self -governance, reasoning and accessibility of decisions; issues of judicial discipline; cooperation in the field of EU Law and Restorative Justice.
