Police detained one person in connection with a fire in one of the markets in Batumi

The officers of Batumi Police Division of the Adjara Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operative-search and investigative activities, detained a juvenile - Sh.A. (DoB 2005) in Batumi for damaging or destroying an object by setting fire.

The committed crime envisages from 3 to 5 years of imprisonment.

The investigation established that on June 9 of the current year, SH.A. along with accomplices, damaged the glass door of the supermarket “Farfuri” located on Parnavaz Mepe Street in Batumi and set fire to the items in the building.

Relevant investigative and operative measures being held to identify and detain other persons involved in the crime.

The incident is being investigated under Article 187, Part II, Subparagraph “A” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which stipulates damage or destruction of an object by setting fire.
