For 17 years, our country and our heroic military have made a worthy contribution to world peace and the fight against terrorism. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia at the event marking the end of the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan.
"Welcome to this very important day as we all celebrate the end of the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan.
For 17 years, our country and our heroic military have made a worthy contribution to world peace and the fight against terrorism. It was the dedicated fight of our servicemen, their worthy fight which strengthened Georgia as a worthy partner, and our army as a brave and professional army.
The significant contribution of our country and troops in ongoing peacekeeping missions involving NATO and our international partners is a clear demonstration that Georgia is ready to be a provider of security and to fight with partners for global peace. The peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan since 2004 is another clear proof of this.
We have been the largest contributor to the mission among non-member countries in terms of the number of troops participating in the mission, and we have demonstrated our support for strengthening global security together NATO member and partner countries”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
