NGOs to quit CEC Consultative Group staffing process

Three non-governmental organizations – Georgian Young Lawyers Association (GYLA), International Transparency-Georgia and Fair Elections – quit the staffing process of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Consultative Group.

As Giorgi Sioridze, CEC Deputy Chairman, said, this decision is destructive. He added that the EU-brokered April 19 Agreement envisaged establishment of such a consultative group.

“Our decision does not mean that we are no longer observing the process. Of course, we do. We will have our opinions and recommendations”, - said Nino Dolidze, Executive Director of the International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy.
