Prime Minister expresses gratitude to rangers at protected areas for their splendid service

Prime Minister of Georgia met with rangers at Lagodekhi Protected Areas - comprising the strict nature reserve and national park - together with Levan Davitashvili, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia today.

Irakli Garibashvili expressed his gratitude to rangers for their splendid service and received first-hand information about their needs. It was noted at the meeting that remuneration kept steadily increasing since 2012 and has been almost tripled nowadays.

He said that the Government permanently cares for the improvement of work conditions for rangers to improve the quality of their patrolling. Advanced technologies have therefore been introduced to the protected areas of the country since 2019. A tailor-made software has been designed to capture data on the bio-diversity and law enforcement at protected areas. The Prime Minister of Georgia also visited a construction site of a hotel in the courtyard of the Visitors Centre at the premises of the Lagodekhi Protected Areas. Investment made into the referred development totals 2 MLN USD.
