In January-July 2021 the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 7 481.6 million, 21.7% higher to the same period of 2020. The exports equaled USD 2 275.6 million (27.8%), while the imports stood at USD 5 206.0 million (19.3%). The negative trade balance was USD 2 930.3 million in January-July 2021 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 39.2%.
In January-July 2021 the share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 77.9%. The top partners were China (USD 370.5 million), Russia (USD 322.7 million) and Azerbaijan (USD 295.3 million).
In January-July 2021 the share of the top ten trading partners by imports in the total imports of Georgia amounted to 68.2%. The top partners were Turkey (USD 917.4 million), Russia (USD 545.3 million) and China (USD 459.4 million).
In January-July 2021 the share of the top ten trading partners in the total external trade turnover of Georgia amounted to 70.4%. The top trading partners were Turkey (USD 1 107.3 million), Russia (USD 868.0 million) and China (USD 829.9 million).
In January-July 2021 copper ores and concentrates reclaimed the first place in the list of top export items, equaling USD 465.9 million with 20.5% of total exports. The exports of Motor cars totaled USD 248.3 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 10.9%. The Ferroalloys exports occupied the third place standing at USD 228.5 million and constituting 10.0% of the total exports.
The top import commodities in January-July 2021 were motor cars whose imports equaled USD 461.8 million (8.9% of the total imports). The petroleum and petroleum oils followed in the list with USD 405.0 million (7.8% of imports). The copper ores and concentrates were third in the top import commodity list with USD 395.6 million (7.6% of imports).
