Dear Prime Minister Garibashvili, I wish to offer my deepest gratitude on behalf of the International; Monetary Fund and its staff for Georgia"s assistance in the safe and swift evacuation of Fund personnel and their families from Afghanistan. It is written in the official letter of Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund addressed to Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia.
Leader of the international financial institution (IFI) also highlights the instrumental roles played by David Zalkaliani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia; and Koba Gvenetadze, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia.
“By receiving our staff and providing them with shelter and safe haven in Tbilisi, Georgia went above and beyond in difficult circumstances to help our people. Make no mistake: these efforts were absolutely critical to this successful evacuation. This was a real testament to the strong partnership between your government and the Fund - and it exemplifies the very real benefits this partnership has in helping people. We at the IMF deeply appreciate this close cooperation and look forward to continuing our strong partnership. We extend our very best wishes to you and your people”, - reads the letter.
