CEC and MIA signed memorandum of understanding for safe conduct of 2 October elections

Giorgi Kalandarishvili, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia, and Vakhtang Gomelauri, Minister of Internal Affairs, signed a Memorandum of Understanding aiming to hold 2 October 2021 elections in a safe and calm environment.

The memorandum envisions cooperation and coordinated work between both sides to ensure the voting process is held in a calm and free environment on E-day, including, within their competencies, coordinated exchange of information, organization of joint training courses and workshops.

The Central Election Commission and the Ministry of Internal Affairs signed MoU for the first time in 2016. Since then, a similar document is being concluded during all general elections; and given this, both sides carry out joint events and study programs for election security.

The coordinated work between the CEC and the MIA ensures maximum security during the election process.
