198 refugees receive, for a symbolic price, lands factually owned by them

Today’s Cabinet meeting at the Government Administration was chaired by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

The Cabinet discussed seven issues on its meeting agenda.

The Cabinet approved a decree on the privatization of state-owned immovable properties by transferring ownership free of charge, whereby 198 refugees will receive, for a symbolic price of one GEL, 198 parcels of land factually owned by them.

These parcels, located in Gori and Kareli Municipalities, are factually owned by refugees from a compact IDP settlement.

According to the Prime Minister, supporting refugees and improving their living conditions is one of the Georgian Government’s key priorities. As part of this process, in full swing across Georgia since 2012, the state has granted ownership over residential spaces to thousands of refugee families.
