Mikheil Saakashvili greeted the supporters gathered at the 12th penitentiary institution in Rustavi from prison.

He addressed his supporters from the cell with the words: “You are the best”. The former president was able to make contact with his supporters for only a few seconds.

Later the Special Penitentiary Service released a statement regarding this issue.

“Mikheil Saakashvili seized the opportunity to address his supporters outside the prison when he was taken for a shower. By doing so he violated internal regulations. However, law enforcement officers responded to the illegal act immediately”, - reads the statement.
