Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be mobilized in the capital to maintain public and security measures as well as for the prevention of artificial escalation of events.
“As it is known to the public, a protest rally is planned to be held on November 8 of the current year at 20:00 on Freedom Square in Tbilisi.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs ensures the right of our citizens to hold peaceful assemblies and demonstrations guaranteed by the Constitution of Georgia.
Herewith, it is notable that according to the Law of Georgia on Assemblies and Manifestations, blocking of administrative institutions and hampering their activities are also prohibited by the active legislation.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on citizens and political leaders involved in ongoing rallies and manifestations to act in compliance of the Constitution of Georgia, respect the professional activities of police officers, not to exceed the limits allowed by the law on freedom of assembly, follow the rightful requests of the police and observe public order. Any violation of the law will be immediately foiled by police and will be followed by appropriate legal response”, - reads the statement of the MIA.
