Prices on medication are greatly increased and we are obliged to address this issue in a timely manner. It was announced by the Prime Minister of Georgia at the meeting of the Economic Council.
Interim Report on the Monitoring of the Pharmaceutical Market, which was presented to Irakli Garibashvili a few days ago by Irakli Lekvinadze, Chairman of the National Agency of Competition, was discussed today within the format of the Economic Council.
Meeting engaged the Chairman of the Competition Agency, who spoke about the main findings of the report.
The Prime Minister reviewed the challenging matter together with the heads of relevant institutions with an aim of carrying out measures in a timely manner to address the issue of high prices on medication in the country in the most efficient manner and timescale.
“This process has been evolving for years already and requires the right intervention from our side. In a real sense, we should do what European states are doing. We are not inventing anything. This issue should be regulated properly as our population is very concerned about it. Prices on medication are greatly increased and we are obliged to address it in a timely manner. I want this topic to be discussed in this format to start with a response intervention and action”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
