The interim draft budget of Tbilisi for 2022 has been submitted to the Tbilisi City Council

The interim draft budget of Tbilisi for 2022 has been submitted to the Tbilisi City Council. Such a statement made today the Mayor of the capital.

“Everyone knows that one of the main levers we have for the implementation of our election program is the municipal budget, which was also discussed within the election program. Our goal is for the municipal budget to reach one billion 700 million GEL in the coming years. When we came to the city government in 2017, we increased budget from 820 million to one billion 200 million GEL, which is certainly very good, because the increased budget allows us to implement more projects in the capital in terms of infrastructure, health and social care, and render more support to the families who need it most from the state, the municipality and the central government. According to the legislation, the interim project has already been submitted to the Tbilisi City Municipal Assembly, according to which the budget consists of one billion 200 million GEL, and within the framework of grants attracted from donor organizations, the amount of about 230 million GEL is envisioned. In total, at this stage, the interim budget is submitted for one billion 430 million GEL.

This is an interim budget and not a final one. We are negotiating with the central government. I also had several meetings with the Prime Minister. I would like to thank Irakli Garibashvili for his support and assistance. We will have the opportunity to receive additional funds from the capital"s budget through special transfers, so that we can implement the projects that I discussed with the Tbilisi residents throughout the whole election campaign. As regards the final budget, we will have a decision in the near future and we will have the exact number defined. What is being submitted to the Tbilisi City Municipal Assembly today is an interim budget. Once we have completed the discussion and negotiations with the central government, we will know about the mobilization of additional funds and, certainly, we will provide all this to the public in the form of information”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
