City assemblies elected in the October 2021 municipal elections are holding their first sessions across the country today, December 3.
Giorgi Tkemaladze, a majoritarian MP from Vake district, has been elected the Chairman of the Tbilisi City Council. The sitting is attended by 43 deputies, 27 of whom supported Tkemaladze, 1 deputy abstained and 1 voted against.
The Georgian Dream failed to win the majority in city assemblies in 6 out of 64 municipalities - Batumi, Zugdidi, Martvili, Chkhorotsku, Tsalenjikha and Rustavi.
