The State Inspector’s Office has completed an investigation into the disclosure of the personal data of Mikheil Saakashvili.
“According to the decision of the State Inspector, administrative responsibility has been imposed on the Ministry of Justice and the Special Penitentiary Service for several episodes of administrative offences.
The dissemination of personal information about the patient in the given case, on the one hand, endangered the health of the starving prisoner and, on the other hand, created mistrust between the patient and the medical worker, which is one of the important principles for proper care.
In the process of examining the legality of the disclosure of the personal data of high public interest, the State Inspector’s Office was guided by national legislation and international instruments governing the protection of privacy and personal data, and also took into account the case law of the ECHR”, - reads the statement.
