Co-Rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will meet today with the leaders of the ruling team.
They already met with the Speaker of the Parliament and the Prime Minister of Georgia.
The conversation revolved around the 2021 local self-government elections. Irakli Garibashvili thanked the Council of Europe for monitoring the elections despite the pandemic, also emphasizing that the Government succeeded in holding transparent, free, and fair municipal elections, as evidenced and commended by international observers, among others.
They also discussed the dire situation in Georgia’s occupied territories, with emphasis on the role of support from the Council of Europe in peaceful conflict-resolution.
