The Prosecutor’s Office has requested Germany extradite former Head of the General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces General Gigi Kalandadze to Georgia, as he is charged with illegal deprivation of liberty and torture, which allegedly took place in 2012.
“Gigi Kalandadze, along with several other former officials under the previous state leadership, kidnapped an individual and tortured him to make him admit to staging a terrorist act”, - reads the statement of the agency.
According to them, the case concerns the torture of a person arrested in July 2012 in connection with admitting the preparation of a terrorist act.
As it known, Kalandadze, who has been wanted by Georgian law enforcement agencies since 2015, was detained in Berlin.
