Today we are independent, but our main dream is to unite our country, restore our territorial integrity and sovereignty. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister at a ceremony dedicated to the memory of the cadets who died near Kojori - Tabakhmela in February 1921.
“It was this event that changed the history of Georgia at that time. An event that practically cut off our country from the pace of real development, processes and for a long time separated us from the common European family. It was this day when the heroic youth, the cadets, gave us an example that remains a guide for many generations today.
A century later we are an independent state today. Of course, the cadets sacrificed themselves for the protection of their homeland, freedom and independence, but they could not stop the huge Red Army that occupied our country. I repeat that their self-sacrifice remained a legend.
I mentioned that we are independent today, but of course our main concern, our main dream is to unite our country, to strengthen and restore our territorial integrity and sovereignty. This, of course, requires a joint effort, the unification of our nation, without which this dream of every citizen is practically unattainable.
I believe that the path to freedom, the unification of the country, goes on the economic development of the country, the stability, the strengthening of our statehood, peace and the unification of our nation. Therefore, we must continue to strive for the ideals that the cadets had. It was a united, strong, free Georgia”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
