Neither extraordinary sitting nor the opening procedures of the sitting will be held today. Such a statement made today the Chairman of the Parliament.
“Consequently, since there are 61 deputies apart from the parliamentary majority, it is theoretically impossible for 76 deputies to register for the opening of the sitting. Therefore, an extraordinary session can’t be held and also, it makes no sense to hold a registration procedure. So, the opening procedures of the sitting will not be held today.
We see in recent days, unfortunately, that part of the opposition is trying to make the Ukrainian issue part of its own domestic political agenda. We hear a whole wave of disinformation against the Georgian government coming from the part of the opposition over Ukraine, and of course, their attitude towards the resolution also confirms that they are trying to use the Ukrainian issue for the domestic political agenda.
The main essence of the statement of the Georgian Dream faction is that using Ukraine’s issue for domestic political agenda is the wrong form of solidarity. The issue of Ukraine is also a security issue for Georgia, but it is not a domestic issue in the sense that they are trying to portray it”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.
