The National Bank of Georgia states that commercial banks and card processing systems operating in Georgia do not cooperate with the payment systems company Mir (“Мир”). The said company fully operates in the Russian system and has nothing to do with the Georgian financial system.
The NBG informs that the payment systems company Mir cooperates with the de facto republic of Abkhazia, which, according to the bank, may violate the law on the occupied territories.
As for the issue of cooperation of the Georgian company, the assessment of this is beyond the scope of our (NBG) competence.
The National Bank of Georgia has always operated and continues to operate in full compliance with the standards set by international resolutions. We kindly remind you that the National Bank of Georgia has already instructed the representatives of the financial sector of Georgia to fulfill their obligations under the sanctions.
